Winner of the 2021 Toronto Mozart Vocal Competition and finalist at the 2022 Montserrat Caballé Competition in Teatro Real, mezzo Sarah Richmond is known for her emotional engagement, with Opera Now reviewing "...her consistently supple and finely shaped coloratura portrayed the kaleidoscope of feelings endured by her character. Brava." Opera Magazine remarking “her acting wholly convincing”, Irish Times "star of the show" and Classical Source “searing virtuosity”. She trained on English National Opera’s ‘Opera Works’ Programme, the National Opera Studio Short Course and at the RNCM as a Drapers de Turckheim Scholar.

2023/24 season sees Sarah perform Argene in Vivaldi's L'Olimpiade in Fribourg Switzerland and in ROH Linbury Theatre, Hansel conducted by Toby Purser, Idamante conducted by Gary Matthewman in London and the world premiere of Helen in The Headless Soldier. Favourite operatic roles include Komponist Ariadne auf Naxos (Mousaverse), Willie Guglielmo Ratcliff, Yelena Popova The Bear, Véronique Le Docteur Miracle, Lucrece What Happened to Lucrece and Meg Falstaff (Wexford Festival Opera), Zweite Dame (Irish National Opera), Mezzo Spell Book (Longborough Festival Opera), Cherubino and Dritte Dame (Opera in the Open), The Boy The Musician (The Belfast Ensemble), Rosina (Ulster Touring Opera), Mrs Kneebone A Dinner Engagement (Cameratina), Mercédès (North West Opera/Cairo Opera), Kate Owen Wingrave (Opera Collective Ireland), Suzuki (Lyric Opera) and La Zia Principessa (Random Opera).

Prominent conductors of solo engagements include Vasily Petrenko with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Jac van Steen, Michael Collins MBE, Paul Daniel CBE and Sir Mark Elder. Extensive UK and Ireland concert performances include Elgar’s Sea Pictures, Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle. She enjoys a close relationship with The Ulster Orchestra, with whom she has performed Respighi’s Il Tramonto, de Falla's El amor brujo, Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder, Handel’s Messiah and BBC Invitation Concerts. International concert credits include Monte Carlo and Soriano nel Cimino. Recital appearances incorporate Royal Opera House London, Oxford Lieder Festival, Cameratina with Roderick Williams OBE and Susanna Stranders, and an upcoming recital at the National Concert Hall. Sarah is supported by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
